Things to Do at Camp Denison Conservation Area

Come down and enjoy the scenery, or engage in many of the activities that Camp Denison Conservation Area offers.

Follow the many well marked trails at Camp Denison. The trails are color coded, and a downloadable map as well as trail descriptions are available for your convenience. Not only do the trails offer many different views of Denison, the Yellow Trail leads into Boxford’s Baldpate Pond State Forest. See Boxford’s Baldpate Pond Trails for more information.

Dog Walking

The trails and open areas at Denison are ideal for dog walking. We only ask that you keep your pets on a leash and pick up after your pet using our convenient disposal bags. The bags can be deposited in the large trash dumpster near the Great Lodge.

Canoeing and kayaking are one of the primary ways of enjoying Camp Denison Conservation Area and beautiful Baldpate Pond. There is easy access to the Pond and seasonal canoe tie up permits are available on a limited basis. See boat tie up rental permits.

There are several spots where access for fishing is available. One is near the Nature Center at the canoe/kayak access point, and another is at the other end of the Pond picnic area. Unfortunately, there is no swimming allowed at Camp Denison.

Bird watching and just plain relaxing are also allowed and encouraged at Camp Denison Conservation Area. For those that are seeking more active pursuits there is a shuffleboard court and horseshoe pits near the Herb Hubbard Gazebo.
