APPLICATION FOR PERMIT TO

TIE UP CANOE OR SMALL BOAT

AT

CAMP DENISON, GEORGETOWN, MASS

A limited number of canoe and boat tie up permits shall be issued to applicants beginning on April 15, 2006. Applications with your fee check must be received in the Georgetown Conservation Commission Office NLT 3:00 PM, April 10, 2006. Selection of applicants will be chosen by the lottery system. All craft must be removed from the waterfront by October 15, 2006. Craft shall be secured to the log chain facility at an assigned space. Non permitted craft stored overnight at the launch site will be removed and a ten dollar fee shall be assessed to the owner. Boats must be twelve feet in length or shorter and be carry-in transportable. There is no length restriction on canoes. All boats and canoes must be carried from the entrance road to the tie up area. (About 200 feet of distance.) Transportation of watercraft to the storage and launch site shall be by carrying except in the case of handicapped applicants. Operation of watercraft shall comply with rules and regulations of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the Town of Boxford. Any waste and other materials generated by the applicant including fish and fish wastes shall be carried out and properly disposed of.

In submitting this application for storage at Camp Denison, the applicant agrees to abide by the following rules.

Inspect your watercraft for any weeds or vegetation on or in your watercraft and remove all traces by washing before moving it to the tie up area.

Operate your watercraft in a safe manner. Always carry approved life jackets. Require that persons who cannot swim wear life jackets. Require life jackets be worn by all persons.

Maintain the storage and launching area in a clean condition. Carry out any waste.

You must also be aware of the risks involved in owning, transporting, storing, and operating a boat or canoe and your liability for the safety and well being of any of your guests and passengers. In granting this permit to store your canoe or boat at Camp Denison, the Camp Denison Committee, the Georgetown Conservation Commission, and the Town of Georgetown assumes no liability for your property even in the case of vandalism, theft, storm damage, overturn on the water, drowning or for any other mishap not mentioned. The applicant in applying for the permit assumes all liabilities for him or her self and their passengers.

Submit this application with your check payable to the Town of Georgetown. The fee is: $25.00 for families; $20 for accessibility handicapped persons and for persons over 65 years old. All fees collected are used to operate and maintain Camp Denison. Checks shall be returned to applicants not selected by the lottery system.
