Baldpate Pond State Forest and Camp Denison
Suggested Walk; (Be a sport; Carry out what you carry in)
Boxford Meeting Place Center Trail
Georgetown Road; Ample parking at left rear corner of parking lot.
Directions: Veer towards left from rear corner, cross
paved area to RR Bed, turning ® on RR Bed. Continue on RR Bed turning
(L) at utility pole # 46 and just past large marsh outlet of Baldpate
Pond. Continue about 44 yards to stone wall (this area is private
property) crossing on to Camp Denison property. Follow left edge of
meadow exiting at (L) corner towards the camp bunk house area, (4-5
bunks houses). Pass bunk house area; trail (L) goes to pond edge, path
to ® towards gravel driveway towards main lodge. To access Boxford
Forest area stay to ® of main lodge passing to ® of women's outhouse
building. Take wood chip path crossing Penn Brook on pedestrian
footbridge turning (L) going up slope, at top turn ® following
shoreline trails to stone wall onto State Forest property. Continue on
path with pond on your (L) through Boxford State Forest and waterfront
path forks again. Lower path is along pond edge and upper path through
woods but still in view of Baldpate Pond most of the time. Paths
converge at Picnic Rock scenic over-look. CAREFULL !! Chards of broken
glass at overlook remain in the soil in spite of extensive clean-up
efforts by BTA/BOLT members. At overlook, trail separates again; wide
path to ® exits onto Nelson St., Georgetown. Path to (L) after passing
campsite at pond edge exits onto Baldpate Rd., Boxford. Shortest route
back to Boxford Meeting Place is retracing steps back through Camp
Denison. A 45-60 minute round trip.
