Volunteer
Volunteers continue to perform the major maintenance requirements
assisted by various town departments. Many improvements have been
accomplished during the past five years. An incomplete summary can be
found here at View Accomplishments.
Most of the expenses for materials and heavy equipment required for
improvements were funded by The Friends of Camp Denison and by many
generous individual and corporate donors.
Camp Denison relies on the support of volunteers to maintain the conservation area and its facilities.
People are always needed to keep the grounds in shape. Raking leaves,
removing undesirable brush, picking up dead tree limbs, seasonal
upkeep, winterizing the facilities, sign making, painting, picking up
litter along the shores of Baldpate Pond and Nelson Street and much
more.
We also want to sponsor environmental and cultural programs for
interested people. They could be one night affairs or a series of
lectures or activities. We need people to plan and prepare educational
activities for the public or private groups.

Camp
Denison also has a supporting group of citizens called "The Friends of
Camp Denison" who regularly meet to work and discuss work projects,
priorities, and sponsor fund raising activities including a volunteer
appreciation luncheon for the many people who donate their time and
energy to the camp and a spring fund raising dance that is a big event
and lots of fun. We need people to organize the
events and help plan and prepare, send invitations, get sponsors and
sell tickets. We also have a work group of retirees who meet to work on
a project every Tuesday morning from 9 am until noon.
Additional ideas and hands for Camp Denison are always welcomed.
We
are always looking for volunteers and programming instructors to help
maintain the grounds and to provide valuable resources for the public.
If you, your group, or anyone you know would like to participate in
particular projects or provide particular programming please drop us a
