The town of Georgetown purchased 36 acres of conservation land in June of 1997. A small group of passionate and dedicated volunteers, organized by Bob Morehouse, worked tirelessly to bring the camp back to its former glory. The group began an annual fundraiser to cover the costs of materials for the repairs of the many buildings on the property. In 2008, “Friends of Camp Denison” became an official 501(c)3 tax-exempt non-profit.

Today, the Friends group is responsible for the ongoing maintenance and repair of the buildings and grounds of the Camp, as well as doing fundraising to support the educational and recreational activities the Camp provides.

The Friends group always welcomes new members. We meet at the Camp on Tuesday mornings to work on the many projects that keep the grounds and buildings in good repair. Other projects can be done any time the Camp is open, for those who would like to donate a few hours at other times of the week.

Donations to Camp Denison are always welcome. The Friends of Camp Denison help cover the costs of maintenance, upgrades (for instance, replacement windows in the Lodge to reduce drafts), family programs (Family Day and our Easter Egg Hunt), and children’s educational programs, including visits to the Camp in the fall and spring by Georgetown Middle School 4th and 5th graders for hands-on environmental education classes led by North Shore Nature Programs.
